Maxine Greene, President

Dr. Greene is President of the foundation, which she founded in 2003. She is Professor of Philosophy and Education and the William F. Russell Professor in the Foundations of Education (emerita) at Teachers College, Columbia University, where she has taught since 1966.

A prolific writer, she has authored seven books, numerous prefaces, articles and edited volumes on curriculum, art and aesthetic education, social justice, literature, history of education, multiculturalism, educational research, philosophy of education. Dr. Greene is a past-president of the Philosophy of Education Society, the American Education Studies Association, and the American Educational Research Association (AERA) and the Middle Atlantic States Philosophy of Education Society. For the past 25 years, she has served as Philosopher-in-Residence at the Lincoln Center Institute for the Arts in Education, where she lectures and conduct workshops in 'literature as art.'
