2008 Greene Grant awarded to:

NYChildren - Danny Goldfield, Photographer

Danny Goldfield's NYChildren project is the first to twice receive a Greene Grant (the first was in 2006). NYChildren's goal is to photograph one child from every country on earth - each child must live in New York City. Children from 156 countries have been participated thus far. In addition to local exhibitions and events, NYChildren has reached millions through various media, including a LIFE magazine cover, the lead story on the Yahoo! News homepage, and was featured in a Japan TV documentary-short.

Danny is currently developing a curriculum focused on creating materials that inspire students to construct narratives, think for themselves, and promote global and self-awareness. Using the NY Children photographs, the curriculum will provide educators with materials to engage students prior, during and after a NYChildren exhibition visit. Materials also being developed for a variety of media including exhibition, broadcast and publication.

"By focusing on unique and specific details in the lives of children, universally experienced emotions are revealed."
