Photograph One Child From Every Country on Earth…
In March 2006, The Maxine Greene Foundation, Inc. awarded a Greene Grant to photographer, Danny Goldfield’s project, NYChildren. Its goal is to photograph one child from every country on earth - each child must live in New York City.
- Every child has a story behind them. So far, children from 136 countries have been photographed. If you know of a child who might be included in this project, want to find out about future projects or support this work, please visit the web site via the above link.
- 48 photographs are available to rent as a traveling exhibit for community events in a variety of spaces.
- "Dream Event". Danny plans a gathering of all children from this project in a museum space filled with their photographs. Families from every country on earth will meet and celebrate their participation. In 2005, a photography participant from Yemen hosted a gathering/exhibition of the children’s photographs in a neighborhood café in Brooklyn.
"The photography has already been shared by millions of people around the world. I am constantly stunned by the kindness of people who have been attracted to this project"
-Danny Goldfield
"Young children, as you know better than I, keep looking, touching, smelling, reaching, finding out what the world is like-unless adults close them in. This is the power of imagination--to break through the crusts of the conventional and the routine, to light the slow fuse of possibility."
