Understanding Our Past – How Do We Distinguish Fact From Fiction?…
In June 2005, The Maxine Greene Foundation, Inc. awarded a Greene Grant to Hilary Easton & Company in support of the creation of a new dance work, "It’s All True". The dance looks at how our conception of the past can be altered based on the need to reconfigure our personal histories.
- Featuring an original, lush music score by composer, Thomas Cabaniss, with text framing the dance narrative by Dorothy Barnhouse.
- Combining wit and poignancy, Hilary Easton’s inventive dance pieces remind us of our shared humanity. Whether she’s exploring the ongoing tension between needing time to reflect and the constant press to get things done, or the darker side of human nature, you will recognize yourself in her choreographic invention as she questions and affirms.

"The sweet-smelling glue that holds it all together is movement that pours out onto the stage in dollops of large, looping choreography…" Read full review
"Everyone acts like a real person onstage. The movement choices are determined by the needs of the piece, with dancing that is often buoyant, weighted, propulsive, and full of contrasts."
-Hilary Easton
"…Recall the images of the dancers breaking free of the mechanical movements imposed upon them, breaking free to invent their own designs and rhythms in accord with others; all, in some sense, choosing themselves Choice and action: both entail a rejection of stasis and passivity. To choose demands an ability to look beyond what seems given and unchangeable."
